Winter Infections

As the weather declines we are seeing an increased number of patients with upper respiratory infections.  Almost all of these are VIRAL in nature and not BACTERIAL, and therefore ANTIBIOTICS WILL NOT HELP.

Before making an appointment to see a doctor, please try cold and flu remedies from your pharmacy, drink plenty of fluids and keep warm.  It can sometimes take a week to 10 days for symptoms to improve.  Your local pharmacist will be happy to advise and, of course do contact the surgery if symptoms worsen or you remain concerned.

If you are a patient on one of our ‘at risk’ registers, or are over the age of 65, and have not already done so, please make an appointment for your flu vaccination.

Flu Vaccine

Please book in for your flu jabs if you are eligible.

October 2015 results

Missed Appointments

A total of 304 appointments were wasted in October 2015, totalling 55 hours:
-153 GP appointments (equivalent to 28 hours)
-153 nurse appointments (equivalent to 27 hours)
If you are unable to attend an appointment please contact the surgery to cancel it - this time wasted could have been offered to other patients.

Over the course of the next few weeks we will be updating the smoking status for patients on our records. This work is being undertaken on our behalf by a team from Provide – please be assured that if you are contacted, that the call is genuine.
If you are a smoker and would like help to stop, the team from Provide will be able to signpost you to Stop Smoking support.

calendar_penOpening hours are from 8.00am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, when the Reception Office is open to book appointments. You may make an appointment in person or by phone or online via this website*.

The receptionist will try and book you with the doctor of your choice, but if this is not possible an alternative will be offered. If you cannot keep your appointment, please cancel it so that it can be used for someone else.

* To access the online booking system you will need to request a username and password from the surgery.

Urgent Appointments

A proportion of each day’s appointments are reserved for same-day booking, and these are particularly appropriate for acute illnesses.

Our receptionists are trained to help you and make the best use of the doctors’ time. We hope you will understand if at times they cannot satisfy your requests completely.
